Why don't bees stick to their own honey?

I know that they deposit honey into cells in the hive/comb and then cover it with wax, but surely some must find its way out, and since bees aren't very big or heavy, presumably it doesn't take much to get them stuck if they stepped in a drop of it by accident. Or do they just eat their way out?
