How to preserve water?

North America continent so is other parts of the world are in water crisis according to lastest issue of National Geographic we are using more water than our aquifers can produce. More and more plants are opening around California, to do disaliation, meaning taking water from the ocean, this process is exensive and takes allot of energy, one plant already up and running in Carlsbad. Why not take the water from places where their is abandance like Siberia and use it here? They have 50% of all drinking water.
