How long will an OB let a woman go overdue?

My mother, my sister, myself, and many of my aunts and uncles were all between two and ten days overdue. I feel this might be hereditary, and I would really like to not be induced, and just let nature take its course. How long is a woman allowed to go past her due date, before the OB insists on an induction?
